LMIA Closed Work permit

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that a Canadian employer may require before hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA confirms the need for a foreign worker to fill a job and demonstrates that no Canadian worker is available to do so. This document is typically issued and processed by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), commonly referred to as Service Canada. Our team is here to assist you with the LMIA application and processing to ensure a smooth experience.

LMIA Exempt Work Permit

An LMIA Exempt Work Permit allows individuals to work in Canada without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). These permits are typically issued for specific circumstances, such as for certain international agreements (e.g., NAFTA), intra-company transfers, or when the job benefits Canada’s cultural or economic interests. It offers a streamlined process for qualifying workers to contribute to Canada’s workforce.

Visitor Record

A Visitor Record is an official document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows individuals to stay in Canada beyond their initial visa or permit expiration. It is not a visa or work permit but serves as proof of legal status for visitors who need to extend their stay. We can assist you with the application process to ensure you maintain your legal status in Canada.

Visitor visa for Students and Workers

A work permit or study permit is not a visa. IRCC will not automatically issue you a visitor visa if you extend your work or study permit. You will need to submit a separate application. You can only apply for a visitor visa from inside Canada if you meet all of these criteria:

  • already are in Canada
  • hold a valid study or work permit
  • want to leave and return to Canada in the near future, and
  • have an existing visitor’s visa that’s expired, or is about to expire, or that was valid for only 1 entry
